Dana C. Jack is a Professor at Fairhaven College, Western Washington University, specializing in cultural psychology, gender studies, and mental health. Her research focuses on women’s depression, self-silencing theory, and cross-cultural perspectives on mental health. She holds a BA from Mount Holyoke College, MSW from the University of Washington, and Ed.D. from Harvard University.
Dr. Jack’s work includes four internationally translated books, such as *Silencing the Self* (1991) and *Silencing the Self Across Cultures* (2010), which explore gender dynamics and depression. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Nepal (2001) and a Mind and Life Visiting Scholar at Amherst (2013). Her courses integrate mindfulness practices and first-person research methods.
Her recent research examines brain plasticity, attachment theories, and the impact of culture on symptom formation in eating disorders and depression. Awards include WWU’s Olscamp Outstanding Researcher (2002) and APA’s International Division Award (2011).
