Dana Berkowitz is an Associate Professor at Louisiana State University (LSU), affiliated with both the Department of Sociology and the Department of Women's and Gender Studies. Her research focuses on gender, bodies and embodiment, sexuality, families, and qualitative methodologies, often examining how cultural phenomena like drag queens, Botox, and LGBTQ+ parenting challenge societal norms.

Her seminal work Botox Nation: Changing the Face of America (NYU Press, 2017) explores Botox as a cultural lens to analyze body norms, gender, and aging. Recent publications (2022–2023) address topics such as male femininity, pregnancy experiences during the pandemic, and queer family dynamics. These works reflect her commitment to qualitative methods and feminist theory, emphasizing the intersection of gender, reproduction, and social change.
