Dana Bardolph

Dana Bardolph serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Northern Illinois University. A specialist in paleoethnobotany and anthropological archaeology, her research explores ancient foodways, agricultural production, and sociopolitical dynamics in New World societies.

• Education: Ph.D. from University of California, Santa Barbara

Her cross-cultural studies span the Midwestern United States, Peru, Mexico, and the Caribbean, with current fieldwork focused on the Midwest. She integrates ethical considerations into archaeological practice, particularly addressing gender equity and disciplinary sociopolitics.

Key publication themes include Mississippian culture analysis, gendered authorship patterns, and indigenous knowledge systems. She contributed to the University Honors Program as a 2021-2022 Honors Faculty Fellow, teaching seminars on Indigenous Illinois.
