Dan Yamins is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Computer Science at Stanford University and a faculty scholar at the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute. His work bridges neuroscience, artificial intelligence, psychology, and data-intensive methodologies through the Stanford NeuroAILab.
His research centers on reverse-engineering the brain's computational algorithms to advance understanding of cognition while developing more effective AI systems. This interdisciplinary work spans computational cognitive neuroscience, neural network modeling, and machine learning applications in neuroscience, with strong emphasis on cross-pollination between biological and artificial intelligence paradigms.
The Stanford NeuroAILab, which he directs, serves as the primary research vehicle for this mission, integrating techniques from large-scale data analysis with cognitive and neuroscientific principles to decode fundamental intelligence mechanisms.
