Dan Stanescu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Wyoming. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Concordia University (1999), an M.Eng. from McGill University (1994), and a B.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering from Polytechnical Institute, Bucharest (1986). His research focuses on numerical analysis, computational fluid dynamics, stochastic differential equations, uncertainty quantification, and mathematical biology.
His research interests include developing computational methods for stochastic systems, fluid dynamics simulations, and biological applications including biofilm growth modeling.
Publications demonstrate long-term focus on developing efficient numerical algorithms (Runge-Kutta methods, discontinuous Galerkin approximations) for complex systems in fluid dynamics and stochastic processes, with recent expansion into biomedical applications.
