Education:
- M.Arch: Harvard University
- BA: Stanford University

His research centers on conceptions of experience over time through hybrid design practices that integrate architectural and landscape systems into unified experiential frameworks.
Scientific Recognition: SAW has received major industry accolades including:
- AIA Emerging Professionals distinction (2016)
- The League Prize from Architectural League of New York (2018)
- Architect Magazine’s Next Progressives (2018)
- Architectural Record's Design Vanguard (2019)
- Multiple national and local design awards
Academic Contributions: Spiegel teaches core architecture curriculum including Fundamentals of Architectural Design (ARCH 100A/B), Introduction to Architecture Studio (ARCH 200A/B), Integrated Design Studio (ARCH 203), and Professional Practice Colloquium (ARCH 207C), while providing secondary thesis advising. His industry recognition directly informs pedagogical approaches in design integration.
Professional Practice: As co-founder of SAW // Spiegel Aihara Workshop, he leads a practice that has redefined boundaries between architectural and landscape disciplines through award-winning projects that prioritize temporal spatial experiences over formal oppositions.
