Dan Riffell

Dan Riffell is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado. He serves as Director of Mechanical Design and Product Development and leads the Graduate Certificate in Design program. With over 20 years of industry experience, his expertise spans engineering design, manufacturing, and project management.

Research Interests: Engineering education innovations, sustainable manufacturing processes, biomass utilization systems, energy production technologies, and pilot plant design. His applied research includes novel anode materials for aluminum refining, catalytic NOx removal systems, solid-oxide fuel cell design, and rocket propellant decomposition technologies.
