معرفی
Dr. Dan Parker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics at The Ohio State University. His research focuses on the psycholinguistics of syntax and semantics, combining experimental, computational, and formal methods to study how structured linguistic representations are mentally assembled, accessed, and manipulated in working memory during real-time language processing.
Research Interests:
- Psycholinguistics of syntax and semantics
- Sentence processing and working memory
- Computational and experimental methods
- Linguistic illusions (e.g., agreement attraction, ellipsis interference)
- Cognitive architecture linking grammar and parser
Publications reflect a focus on:
- Memory retrieval mechanisms in sentence comprehension
- Interference effects in syntactic processing
- Computational modeling of linguistic representations
- Explaining language processing successes/failures through cognitive mechanisms
Outreach: Engages in public education about language science through programs like the North American Computational Linguistics Open Competition and community school collaborations.
