Dan Obluda is a Lecturer at Colorado State University’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, specializing in music history and theory. He also teaches courses in the University Honors Program, including seminars on Hollywood films and music-picture relationships.

His research focuses on semiotics in film music and comparative analysis of pentatonicism in Japanese and American folk traditions. He has published with A-R Editions and the American Music Research Center Journal, and presented at conferences including the American Musicological Society and Music and the Moving Image Conference.
Obluda is an active percussionist, performing with the Fort Collins Wind Symphony (2013–present) and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (2007–2018). His work bridges academic research, pedagogy, and performance across multiple institutions.
