Dan Jacobson is Professor of Musicology, Music Theory, and General Education at the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, Western Michigan University. He holds a Ph.D. in Music from University of California-Santa Barbara, M.A. from California State University Long Beach, and B.A. in Vocal Performance from Westminster College. With over 25 years as a professional singer-guitarist, he served as music director for the Grove Shakespeare Festival and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
His research spans music history, theory, and technology, with publications on Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and music pedagogy. Awards include the 2024 Distinguished Professor honor and multiple teaching recognitions.
