معرفی
Dr. Dan Hawthorne is a Research Fellow at the University of Brighton's School of Applied Sciences and a core member of the Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Devices (CRMD) and the Centre of Research Excellence (CORE). His work focuses on developing advanced biomaterials for tissue engineering and therapeutic delivery systems.
Education:
- PhD in Optical indicators for intelligent packaging and assessment of photocatalytic activity (Queen's University Belfast, 2018)
- MChem in Chemistry with Forensic Investigation (University of Surrey, 2014)
Research Focus: Specializes in biocompatible polymer systems for on-demand drug delivery, particularly ocular therapeutics via hydrogel-embedded contact lenses. Also develops smartphone-readable colorimetric biosensors and responsive wound dressings that integrate biochemical triggers with therapeutic release mechanisms.
Collaborative Networks: Actively works with industry partners like CooperVision and interdisciplinary academic teams spanning chemistry, pharmaceutics, and biomolecular sciences. His projects include "Bioengineering controlled release from contact lens hydrogels" (2019-2025) and "Photocatalyst Activity Indicator" series.
