Dr. Dan Furlong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He also serves as the Director of Competitive Sports and oversees the Character in Sport programs, including Competitive Club Athletics and Company Athletics.
- Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University
- M.A. in Education (Biomechanics) from the University of Connecticut
- B.A. in Athletic Administration from St. John’s University
His research focuses on Character and Leadership Development in sports, emphasizing Team Building and Character in Sport through programmatic and pedagogical initiatives.

Dr. Furlong has taught at West Point for a decade and contributes to the Combatives Committee with a Modern Army Combatives Level 2 certification. He also works as a Sports Medicine Concierge for Sports Properties Events at Madison Square Garden, a role he has held for 34 years.
