Damien Bennett

Dr Damien Bennett is the Director of the Northern Ireland Cancer Registry and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast's School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences within the Centre for Public Health. His research focuses on cancer epidemiology, with particular emphasis on malignant neoplasms, adolescent and young adult oncology, and rare cancers. He has contributed to major initiatives like the EUROCARE-6 study, examining cancer incidence, survival rates, and treatment patterns across Europe. His work integrates public health surveillance with clinical data to inform policy and improve cancer care outcomes.

Key research interests include metastatic breast cancer prevalence, time-to-treatment disparities in pediatric and young adult cancers, and epidemiological analysis of sarcomas and rare gynecological cancers.
