Daleah Goodwin serves as Assistant Professor of History at Xavier University, specializing in the historical experiences of Black women across the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Her scholarship bridges African American History, Women's History, and U.S. History through intersectional analysis of marginalized narratives.
Dr. Goodwin's academic preparation includes:
- Ph.D. in U.S. History (Women's Studies & African American History concentration) from University of Georgia
- Master's degree in History from Florida A&M University
- Bachelor's degree in History from Florida A&M University
Her research centers on reconstructing Black women's intellectual and activist traditions, particularly through biographical work on Hallie Quinn Brown. Current projects examine how early twentieth-century Black women educators and organizers created spaces for professional development and social change despite systemic barriers. This scholarship employs deep archival research to recover methodologies of resilience and community building.
Dr. Goodwin actively contributes to undergraduate education through courses in U.S. History, African American History, and Women's History, emphasizing primary source analysis and critical engagement with historical power structures.
