Dagmar Kusá is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Studies Coordinator at Bratislava International School of Liberal Arts (BISLA). She holds a PhD in Political Science from Boston University and an MA in Political Science from Comenius University. Her research focuses on collective memory, ethnic identity, citizenship, and conflict transformation, with particular attention to cultural trauma in political discourse and post-authoritarian transitions in Central Europe and South Africa.
She has held roles including Program Director at the Bostonian International Center for Conciliation (since 2004), Board Member of the Slovak Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, and Projects Coordinator at EUROCLIO (The Hague, 2008/2009). She currently serves as Vice President of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Slovakia and as a country expert for the European Democratic Observatory (EUI).
Key research initiatives include the EUDO Citizenship Observatory, the ACIT project on immigrant integration, and the IMPIC project on comparative immigration policies. She has received grants from the Global Liberal Arts Alliance, Open Society Foundations, and others. Her teaching spans courses like Comparative Politics, International Conflict and Cooperation, and Citizenship Narratives in Central Europe.
Her awards include the Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award (Boston University, 2001-2002) and multiple research fellowships focusing on democratization and reconciliation studies.
