The lab's work integrates X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics simulations to elucidate mechanisms of major facilitator superfamily (MFS) transporters, including NaCT (linked to obesity and diabetes) and INDY homologues (metabolic regulation). Recent publications highlight cryo-EM methodology, efflux pump inhibition, and conformational dynamics.
Current research explores substrate selectivity, inhibitor binding, and evolutionary conservation in transporters. The lab has trained graduate students like Mahlet Bauerle and collaborates on antibiotic resistance and metabolic disease projects.
