D. Scharie Tavcer is an Associate Professor in the Economics, Justice, and Policy Studies department at Mount Royal University, where she has taught for over 20 years. Her work bridges criminal law, gender-based violence, and social justice, with a focus on decolonizing legal pedagogy and improving campus sexual violence policies.

Recent publications include Canadian Criminal Law and the Criminal Code: An Introduction (2024) and Sexual Violence Policies and Sexual Consent Education at Canadian PSIs (2022, Routledge). She advocates for mandatory campus-wide consent education and interdisciplinary approaches to gendered violence.
