Cédric Peeters

Cédric Peeters is a postdoctoral researcher in Applied Mechanics at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, specializing in condition monitoring and fault detection for rotating machinery, particularly wind turbines. He is affiliated with the School of Engineering Technology and the Acoustics & Vibrations Research Group within the Department of Applied Mechanics.

His research focuses on advanced signal processing techniques for condition monitoring, with expertise in Discrete Fourier Transforms, deep learning applications, and hybrid intelligence methods. Peeters has made significant contributions to wind turbine drivetrain monitoring, developing novel approaches for fault detection in slow-rotating components and planetary gears. His work bridges theoretical signal processing with practical industrial applications in renewable energy systems.

Peeters has received multiple prestigious awards including two 1st place awards at the HUMS2023 data competition for best trending capability and earliest convincing detection, as well as a Best Student Paper Award in 2017. His research has resulted in over 60 publications with more than 800 citations and an h-index of 12.
