Dr. Cécile Vincent serves as a Lecturer at the Chizé Center for Biological Studies (CEBC), jointly operated by CNRS and La Rochelle University. Her institutional affiliation falls under the Department of Biology at La Rochelle University, where she conducts field research on marine mammal ecology with emphasis on seal populations across French territories including mainland France (Manche and Iroise regions), Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, and the northwestern Atlantic.
Her primary research domains encompass:
- Seal foraging behavior and diving ecology using Argos/GPS/GSM telemetry
- Gray seal and harbor seal population dynamics in protected areas
- Spatial resource utilization strategies of marine mammals
- Impact assessment of offshore windfarm projects on seal colonies
- Conservation management of protected marine species
Vincent actively contributes to national and international expert groups including the CIEM Working Group on Marine Mammal Ecology and the Society for Marine Mammalogy Board. She directs the Life Sciences undergraduate degree program and co-leads the Master's minor in "Ecology and Management of Mobile Marine Species" within the Environmental Sciences program. Her collaborative work with NGOs and protected area managers directly informs conservation policies for marine mammal habitats.
Vincent maintains active field research through CEBC's bio-logging platforms and participates in citizen science initiatives. Her departmental leadership includes curriculum development for marine biology education and oversight of experimental research infrastructure at the Villiers-en-Bois facility.
