Cyril Gavoille is a Professor at the LaBRI laboratory (Laboratoire Bordelais de Recherche en Informatique) within the University of Bordeaux. He holds leadership roles including Deputy Director of the Computer Science Unit at LaBRI (since 2024) and Head of the Combinatorics and Algorithmics department (since 2021). His research focuses on distributed computing, graph algorithms, quantum information, and compact routing systems.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on Distributed Algorithms, Algorithmic Techniques, and Algorithm Analysis at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Master's and Engineering programs). He also contributes to practical work and course development in distributed systems and algorithm design.
Active in academic service, Gavoille serves on program committees for major conferences like SOFSEM, CALDAM, ESA, and PODC. He has organized workshops such as QuDATA 2024 on quantum algorithms and has led initiatives in distributed algorithmics and information theory through the GDR-IM research group.
His technical contributions include work on distributed algorithm design, graph labeling schemes, and approximation algorithms. Administrative roles include past leadership as Head of the Master's program in Computer Science (2003–2007) and Deputy Director of LaBRI (2008–2021).
