Cyril Besnard

Cyril Besnard is a Research Fellow at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, affiliated with Trinity College. He is part of the Materials Engineering Korsunsky Group, focusing on advanced materials and their applications in armor, dental caries, and biomimetics.

His research interests include the development of advanced materials, biomimetics, remineralisation, and characterization of materials using electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and synchrotron X-ray experiments. He has significant expertise in 3D image analysis and data analysis software.

His publications span topics such as X-ray diffraction, neural tissue engineering, and fracture mechanics of human enamel. He has received multiple awards, including the Tony Evans Memorial Prize (2018) and a DSTL-funded Ph.D. scholarship.
