معرفی
Cynthia Moreton Kuhn is a Professor of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology and Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. She holds affiliations with the Duke Initiative for Science & Society, Duke Cancer Institute, and Duke Institute for Brain Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. from Duke University in 1976.
Her research employs multidisciplinary approaches to study addiction biology and stress/depression neurobiology, focusing on:
- Sex differences in drug actions via estrogen/testosterone pathways
- Adolescent dopamine system maturation and drug vulnerability
- Neurobiology of adolescent risk-taking behaviors
- Hormonal interactions in alcohol/opioid dependence
- Clinical collaborations on human addiction mechanisms
Publications emphasize biomarkers for substance use, sex-specific stress responses, neurodevelopmental impacts of early exposures, and novel pharmacotherapies. Research utilizes rodent models and human studies, with strong themes in neuroendocrinology and adolescent vulnerability.
Awards:
- Golden Goose Award (2014)
- AAAS Fellow (2015)
She leads a laboratory investigating addiction neurobiology and collaborates on public science education initiatives. The team develops neuroscience education materials for students and communities.
