Her publication record reveals an evolving research trajectory from historical Romance syntax studies toward contemporary ecological approaches to language variation. Recent work emphasizes urban multilingualism, discourse analysis in contact situations, and methodological innovations in corpus linguistics, particularly through her involvement in the DFG/ANR research network 'Corpus International Écologique de la Langue Française' (ciel-f).
Dermarkar has supervised student mentoring at the Romance Languages Department until 2021 and currently teaches writing workshops for linguistics students. She participates in significant research collaborations including the ciel-f network with subprojects focusing on Egypt, demonstrating sustained engagement with international scholarly communities.
