Dr. Cynthia B. Giaimo-Ballard serves as the Program Chair and Associate Professor of Child Development at the University of La Verne's LaFetra College of Education. Since joining in 2001, she leads the undergraduate Child Development program across multiple campuses and online. Her research focuses on nature-based learning environments, culturally responsive curriculum design, and infant/toddler development. She holds certifications from the Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC) and is active in professional organizations like NAEYC and AERA.
Education: Ed.D., M.S., and B.S. in Child Development from the University of La Verne.
Her work emphasizes reflective pedagogy, fostering critical thinking in students, and advancing anti-bias educational practices. Prior to academia, she spent over 20 years in early childhood program teaching and administration.
