Curtis Perry Otto is an Assistant Professor at Hampton University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts. He has been with the Hampton Players for 28 seasons as a scenic and light designer, blending academic and professional theatre work.
His research focuses on the rhetorical aspects of cinema, sports, and political cartooning, with a particular emphasis on environmental rhetoric. In 2009, he presented his paper on the intersection of rhetoric and global warming at the Southern States Communication Association conference.

Otto's theatrical design expertise spans over 100 productions, including notable works like A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Bluest Eye, and 40 Acres and A Mule (World Premiere).
