Dr. Crystal Legacy is an Associate Professor in Urban Planning at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne School of Design and serves as Assistant Dean (Graduate Research). She holds editorial roles for Planning Theory and Practice and Urban Policy and Research, focusing on participatory planning, transport politics, and urban governance. Her research explores transformative governance models for infrastructure, autonomous vehicles, and deliberative democracy frameworks. A former ARC DECRA recipient (2014-2017), her work critiques post-political planning paradigms and advocates for equitable urban futures.
Her disciplinary expertise spans urban planning with particular emphasis on transport innovation, strategic plan-making, and conflict mediation in infrastructure projects. Key research hubs include the Transport, Health and Urban Design (THUD) group, addressing future cities challenges. Recent projects examine participatory frameworks, infrastructure governance crises, and ethics in mobility policy.
