Crisal Jackson is an Associate Professor in the TCLAS School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University (ASU). She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), complemented by a Women's Studies Graduate Certificate and a B.A. in Psychology. Her research focuses on critical intersections of gender, race, and sexuality, particularly in contexts of state violence, carceral systems, and sex worker rights.
Her expertise spans feminist and queer theory, political economy of sexuality, and social justice movements. Courses taught include Women and the Body and Seminar in Women's Studies, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship.
Dr. Jackson's scholarship critically examines anti-prostitution policies, neo-abolitionist movements, and the criminalization of sex work. Her work highlights how carceral logics perpetuate racialized and gendered injustices, advocating for decriminalization frameworks. Notable contributions include analyses of Las Vegas' sex industry dynamics and the global sex workers' rights movement.
Her research has been published in top journals and presented at international conferences, shaping debates on human rights, migration, and pornography consumption.
