Cristy Moss

Cristy Moss serves as Associate Clinical Professor and MSMLS Program Director in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan. Joining the faculty in July 2021, she brings a distinctive dual perspective shaped by certification as both a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP MLS/SC) and licensed physician (MBBS).

Her academic foundation includes:

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS) from Andrews University (2013), recognized as J.N. Andrews Honors Scholar
• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from University of the West Indies (2019)

Dr. Moss pioneers interprofessional education models that transform health sciences pedagogy through gamification and competency-based frameworks. Her research examines metabolic disease pathways in pediatric populations while developing innovative strategies to enhance clinical decision-making literacy. By integrating frontline clinical experience from Bahamian, Virginian, and Michigander healthcare settings, she creates authentic learning environments that bridge laboratory science with patient-centered care.

As MSMLS Program Director, Dr. Moss oversees curriculum development while maintaining professional engagement through the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science and Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine. Her educational innovations—including 'The Clin Chem Games' and competency refresher systems—demonstrate her commitment to advancing medical laboratory science education through evidence-based, student-centered approaches that prepare graduates for complex clinical environments.
