Cristina Zomeño Segado

Cristina Zomeño Segado is a Doctoral Collaborating Professor at the Department of Animal Production and Health, Veterinary Public Health, and Food Science and Technology at Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera. She holds a Doctorate with International Mention in Animal Production Science and Technology from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and a Veterinary Degree from Universidad CEU UCH.

Her research integrates Food Technology and Animal Production, focusing on developing smart technologies to enhance food system quality and address societal demands. Key research themes include analyzing pre- and post-mortem factors affecting animal health, welfare, and food quality across species, as well as implementing inspection technologies for quality assessment.

She has worked in diverse segments of the agri-food chain, including livestock farming, food processing, end-product quality, consumer perception, and the technology sector, fostering a multidisciplinary, holistic understanding of agri-food systems. Her career includes international experience via research stays at Scotland's Rural College (UK), the University of Padua (Italy), and the IRTA Institute (Catalonia).
