Cristina Gaggioli

Cristina Gaggioli is an Associate Professor in the Department of Italian Language, Literature, and Arts in the World (LILAIM) at the University for Foreigners of Perugia. She serves as the Rector's Delegate for DSA and disability, Director of the CeRiMM - Maria Montessori Research Center, and Scientific Director of the University's Pedagogical-Didactic and Psychological Counseling services. She is also the managing editor of the A-ranked journal Media Education. Studies, Research, Best Practices.

Research Interests: Her work centers on Special Educational Needs, Educational Technologies, Inclusion, Teacher Training, Media Education, Gamification, and the Maria Montessori pedagogical approach. She promotes peace education and innovative teaching methods through research and training.

The recent publications reflect a strong trend in combining digital learning tools with inclusive pedagogy, particularly through gamification and AI, while deeply engaging with Montessori's philosophy to foster equity and accessibility in education.

Advising and Grants: She leads the Pedagogical-Didactic and Psychological Counseling services and directs the Maria Montessori International Advanced Training Course: Pedagogy for Peace. She has collaborated with the Italian Dyslexia Association for over fifteen years and served as an expert in the Consensus Conference DSA Guidelines 2018, published by the National Institute of Health in 2022. She is actively involved in national and international research groups and editorial activities.

Labs and Teams: She is a member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the Educational Technologies Laboratory (LTE) at the University of Florence and participates in multiple research groups focused on educational innovation and inclusion.
