Craig Yirush

Craig Yirush is an Associate Professor of History at UCLA, specializing in Anglo-American political/legal thought and indigenous-settler relations. His scholarly contributions include Settlers, Liberty, and Empire (2011) on colonial political theory and the award-winning anthology Exploring the Bounds of Liberty (2019). Current research examines indigenous legal resistance to settler colonialism from contact to the 20th century.

Courses cover colonial America, the Revolution, and indigenous rights. Education includes PhD (Johns Hopkins), MPhil (Cambridge), and BA/MA (University of British Columbia).
