Craig C. Reaves is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Kansas School of Law and the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law since 2002. He specializes in teaching Elder Law and practices law in Kansas and Missouri, focusing on estate planning, elder law, special needs trusts, and disability planning. Reaves holds a J.D. (1978) and B.A. (1975) from the University of Kansas. He is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) since 1995 and has been recognized in Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America for over a decade.
His research emphasizes practical legal strategies for elderly and disabled populations, including asset protection, government benefit compliance, and trust structures. Reaves has authored multiple chapters on trusts, incapacity planning, and SSI eligibility, contributing to legal guides such as Missouri Elder Law and Kansas Long-Term Care Handbook. He frequently presents at CLE events for organizations like the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Missouri Bar Association.
Reaves is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and has leadership roles in NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys), WealthCounsel, and the USB Attorney Network. He is admitted to practice in Kansas, Missouri, and multiple federal courts.
