معرفی
Professor Craig Moritz is a leading evolutionary biologist and conservation geneticist at the Australian National University (ANU), affiliated with the Research School of Biology. He also serves as Director of the joint ANU-CSIRO Centre for Biodiversity Analysis. With a career spanning institutions like the University of Queensland and UC Berkeley's Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, his work bridges genomics, phylogenetics, and environmental analysis.
- PhD in Evolutionary Biology (ANU, 1980-1985)
- Undergraduate in Science (University of Melbourne, 1976-1979)
- Postdoctoral Research (University of Michigan, 1985-1988)
Moritz's research focuses on biodiversity discovery, biogeography, and climate change responses. His work leverages genomics to map biodiversity hotspots, understand speciation dynamics, and develop conservation strategies for ecosystems like Australia's monsoonal tropics and Brazil's Atlantic forests. Recent projects include population genomics of geckos and genomic insights into climate adaptation.
Scientific Awards:
- ARC Laureate Fellowship
He actively supervises research students and leads collaborative projects such as Hybridisation leading to lost sex and Resolving Heteronotia/Gehyra gecko taxonomy. His lab applies cutting-edge genomic tools to address conservation challenges in rapidly changing environments.
