Craig Mather serves as Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Oral Surgery at the University of Glasgow Dental School, with his clinical base at Glasgow Dental Hospital. He holds significant leadership roles including Deputy Director of Dental Education (appointed 2024), Dental School Quality Assurance Lead, and Deputy Admissions Officer for Dentistry.
His research spans oral surgery techniques, dental education innovation, and maxillofacial pathology. Mather pioneered virtual clinical assessment methods during the pandemic, publishing extensively on remote teaching adaptations. His clinical research focuses on sedation protocols, salivary gland disorders, and rare oral pathologies including lymphoma cases and odontogenic tumors.
Publications reveal consistent output since 2007 with recent emphasis on educational methodology (2022-2023). His work demonstrates strong collaboration within Glasgow's dental academic community, particularly with Binnie, Bell, and Donn on pandemic-related educational adaptations.
