Craig Dukes is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Virginia. He leads the Frontier Physics Group and serves as head of the Mu2e Cosmic Ray Veto system and a detector group within Mu2e. His work spans experimental high-energy physics and innovative archaeological applications of particle detection.
Research Interests:
- Probing matter-antimatter asymmetry (CP violation) through neutrino experiments like NOvA
- Dark matter discovery via experiments including Mu2e and LDMX
- Development of cosmic-ray muon tomography for uncovering hidden chambers in ancient structures (Great Pyramid of Khufu, El Castillo pyramid)
- Design of cutting-edge detector systems for particle physics and archaeological imaging
Experiment Leadership:
- Co-head of NOvA Exotics Group (2010-2020s)
- Institutional Board representative for UVA in NOvA
- Head of Mu2e Cosmic Ray Veto group and Institutional Board
