Costel Peligrad is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cincinnati. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Bucharest (1980) and has held academic appointments including Visiting Professor at the University of Rome and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati (1984-1989), and Professor since 1989.
His research focuses on operator algebras, abstract harmonic analysis, and related mathematical theory, particularly C*-algebras, von Neumann algebras, automorphism groups, and invariant subspaces. Recent publications demonstrate extensive work on group actions, Markov chains, spectral theory, and dynamical systems.
Peligrad's scholarly output spans operator theory, probability, functional analysis, and mathematical physics. His articles frequently address spectral properties, convergence theorems, and structural aspects of operator algebras under group actions.
Awards:
- Romanian Academy Prize (1981)
He has secured multiple research grants including from the NSF and Taft Research Foundation, focusing on operator theory and collaborative projects. Peligrad has chaired dissertation committees and contributes to departmental service including seminar coordination and examination committees.
