Costas Arkolakis is a Professor of Economics at Yale University and an NBER Research Associate. He joined Yale in 2007, became a Full Professor in 2018, and has held roles such as Henry Kohn Associate Professor. His research focuses on general equilibrium trade theory, spatial economics, macroeconomics, and industrial organization. Arkolakis holds a B.A. from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota.
He has received prestigious awards, including the Bodossaki Foundation Prize in Social Sciences and multiple NSF grants. His work spans geospatial economic analysis, firm dynamics, and trade policy, with notable contributions to spatial equilibrium models and universal gravity frameworks. He co-edits the Economic Theory and Journal of International Economics.
