Cory Wetterlin serves as Associate Professor and Department Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kettering College, a position he has held since joining the institution in 2018. His dual role combines academic leadership with direct instruction in religious studies, shaping curriculum development across undergraduate programs.
His academic credentials include a Doctorate of Religion from Andrews University, where his research emphasized Systematic Theology with a cognate in New Testament Studies. His doctoral dissertation specifically examined the doctrine of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, establishing his scholarly foundation in theological research.
Professor Wetterlin's research program centers on Systematic Theology and New Testament interpretation, with particular focus on pneumatology (Holy Spirit studies). His scholarly interests extend to religious education methodologies and the practical application of spiritual care principles within healthcare contexts. This expertise directly informs his development of Kettering College's spiritual care minor, designed to equip students with interdisciplinary skills.
As Department Chair, he oversees curriculum innovation while maintaining active membership in four major theological societies: Adventist Theological Society, Adventist Society for Religious Studies, Society of Biblical Literature, and Wesleyan Theological Society. His prior 17-year pastoral career across multiple Adventist conferences provides distinctive practical perspective to his academic work, particularly in youth ministry applications and intergenerational faith formation.
