Cory James LaFevers

Cory James LaFevers is a Lecturer in the Department of Performance and Visual Studies at Texas A&M University’s College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts. He holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Texas (2018), an MM in Ethnomusicology (also UT), and an MA in Pan-African Studies from Syracuse University. His research explores transnational formations of race and place through performance studies, focusing on music/dance in the African Diaspora, whiteness/anti-racism, and the role of objects in embodiment.
