معرفی
Corrine Yap is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Mathematics and a postdoctoral fellow at the Algorithms and Randomness Center (ARC). Her research focuses on extremal and probabilistic combinatorics, particularly at the intersection with statistical physics, and she collaborates with Will Perkins on algorithmic problems in these domains.
Education:
- PhD in Mathematics from Rutgers University (2023), supervised by Bhargav Narayanan
- Bachelor's degree from Sarah Lawrence College, with concentrations in Mathematics and Theater
Research Interests: Yap combines extremal combinatorics and probabilistic methods to study discrete structures in statistical physics models. Her work bridges theoretical mathematics with algorithmic applications for counting and sampling problems.
Scientific Awards & Fellowships:
- Postdoctoral fellowship at ARC, Georgia Tech
- SLMath (formerly MSRI) postdoctoral fellow for Extremal Combinatorics and Probability & Statistics of Discrete Structures
- Horizons of Knowledge award from Indiana University Bloomington
Other Contributions: Since 2024, she has directed MathILy-Er, a summer program teaching discrete math via inquiry-based instruction. She was a Lead Instructor (2022–present), Apprentice Instructor (2015–2021), and PRiME (2014–2015) for the MathILy programs. Her one-woman play Uniform Convergence explores systemic inequities in academia through the lens of Sofia Kovalevskaya and a fictional Asian-American mathematician, and has been performed at 24+ institutions including Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.
