معرفی
Professor Corrina Cory is a faculty member in the Department of Engineering at the University of Exeter, within the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences. She is a Chartered Engineer and Edupreneur with over 20 years of experience in engineering, education, and entrepreneurship. Her work focuses on transforming engineering education through Gold Standard Project Based Learning (GSPBL) and integrating entrepreneurial competence into the curriculum.
Her research spans two primary domains: Engineering Education and Injury Biomechanics. In education, she develops curricula that foster 21st-century skills, resilience, and innovation using the EntreComp framework. In biomechanics, she applies forensic and injury modeling techniques to public health, healthcare design, and child safety. She is leading the development of maker spaces and the Virtual Learning Experience (VLEx) to enhance student collaboration and experiential learning.
The recent publications reflect a strong trend towards interdisciplinary research, combining engineering with education, public health, and environmental design. Early works focus on forensic injury biomechanics, particularly in pediatric head trauma, while recent outputs emphasize educational innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive, student-centered learning environments. This evolution highlights her shift from technical biomechanics to systemic educational transformation.
Scientific Awards and Recognition:
- Key academic lead in securing Royal Society funding for the Entrepreneurs in Residence (EiR) program.
- Recognized for innovation in engineering education through national conference keynotes and presentations.
Corrina Cory actively advises students through project modules such as the Individual Project (BEng), Group Project (MEng), and Multi-Disciplinary Challenge Project. She has led curriculum development for entrepreneurship modules and is instrumental in building a supportive ecosystem for student innovation. Her grants focus on educational transformation, digital learning tools, and interdisciplinary research in health and safety. She leads the design of engineering maker spaces and collaborates across disciplines to promote inclusive, hands-on learning.
She is building a multidisciplinary research area that connects injury biomechanics with wellness, injury prevention, and the design of 'green, blue, and yellow (safe) spaces'. These initiatives aim to influence healthcare facilities, the built environment, and natural spaces to support healthy, independent living. Her leadership in the New VLE Working Group further demonstrates her commitment to digital transformation in education.
