Corrado Puligheddu is a Fixed-term Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET) at Politecnico di Torino. His scientific disciplinary sector is IINF-03/A - Telecommunications (Area 0009 - Industrial and Information Engineering). He serves as an invited member of the College of Electronic, Telecommunications, and Physics Engineering and the College of Computer, Film, and Mechatronics Engineering.
His research focuses on next-generation telecommunications technologies, particularly 5G and beyond mobile networks, software-defined communication systems, and edge computing applications. Dr. Puligheddu's work bridges theoretical networking concepts with practical implementations in agricultural IoT applications and computer vision task offloading.
His publication portfolio reveals a strong emphasis on O-RAN architecture, LPWAN technologies (particularly LoRaWAN), and edge computing solutions for computer vision. The research demonstrates a clear trajectory toward integrating artificial intelligence with telecommunications infrastructure to create more efficient, intelligent network systems that address real-world challenges in precision agriculture and industrial IoT applications.
Dr. Puligheddu actively supervises PhD research, currently guiding Elena Filipescu's work on innovative LPWAN technologies for agricultural applications. His teaching portfolio includes advanced courses on 5G and next-generation mobile computing, as well as project-based instruction in software-defined communication systems across multiple academic years (2022-2025).
He has co-invented significant intellectual property including the OffloaDNN framework for DNN offloading at the edge and SEM-O-RAN for semantic network slicing, both protected by international patents. These innovations represent practical applications of his research in edge computing and network virtualization.
