Cornelius Christian

Cornelius Christian is an Associate Professor of Economics at Brock University's Faculty of Social Sciences. His office is located in Plaza 445. He holds a DPhil and MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford (2015, 2012) and a BA (Honours) in Economics from the University of Alberta (2010).

His research focuses on three interconnected domains:

• Economic History: Examining historical patterns of violence and institutional change
• Development Economics: Analyzing poverty impacts and behavioral responses in developing regions
• Political Economy: Investigating power structures and elite influence in persecution mechanisms

His publications demonstrate consistent focus on causal relationships between economic shocks and social outcomes across diverse historical contexts, employing quantitative methods to analyze longitudinal datasets.

Awards include:

He has supervised multiple graduate research projects including Yanqi He's Major Research Project (ECON 5F00) and directed studies for Niall Hynes, Conrad Lipiec, Ryan McDonnell, and Jeremy Blanchard. His grants support investigations into economic determinants of social unrest.
