Cornelia Wilson serves as Senior Lecturer and Academic Laboratory Director in the School of Sciences, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Engineering and Sports at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), managing the Life Sciences Industry Liaison Lab at Discovery Park in Sandwich.
Her academic trajectory includes:
- Undergraduate research training at Boehringer Mannheim (Roche Diagnostics) in Penzberg, Bavaria, focusing on human gene therapy
- PhD studies at Manchester investigating protein synthesis and degradation pathways through academia-industry collaboration, including 6-month Pfizer training at Sandwich
- Post-doctoral research with Prof. Stephen High on N-glycosylation and ER protein folding, with additional training at ZMBH Heidelberg
- Assistant Professor position at University of Limoges and Limoges Hospital establishing the first biobank and leading lung cancer research
Dr. Wilson's research centers on fundamental cellular mechanisms in human disease pathogenesis, with particular emphasis on exosome biology, protein folding/degradation dysregulation, and molecular pathways in cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Her work bridges basic science and clinical applications through extracellular vesicle analysis and industry-academia partnerships.
She currently directs the Life Sciences Industry Liaison Lab at Discovery Park, facilitating translational research collaborations. Previously, she pioneered lung cancer research infrastructure at Limoges through the first chair of excellence on Lung cancer, demonstrating sustained leadership in biobanking and extracellular vesicle research.
