Cornelia Deagle

Cornelia Deagle, PhD, MSPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Tech. She holds multiple leadership roles, including Director of the Division of Child and Family Health at the Virginia Department of Health and Director of the Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant. Her work focuses on community engagement, public health program evaluation, maternal and child health, and social determinants of health.

Education: PhD in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior from the University of South Carolina (2004); MSPH in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1989); BA in Sociology from Roanoke College (1987).

Research emphasizes qualitative methods (Grounded Theory, Phenomenology, Ethnography) and community-driven solutions.
