Corine Labridy serves as Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences, specializing in Caribbean literatures and Afro-diasporic cultural studies within French-speaking contexts. Her work critically engages with postcolonial/decolonial frameworks and contemporary cultural production.
Her research traverses Caribbean literatures, African diaspora studies, theories of laughter, utopian/dystopian studies, digital humanities, and media/film studies. A central focus examines how Black women stand-up comedians challenge France's universalist national identity through humor and public presence, forming the basis of her current book project.
Labridy co-founded the digital humanities initiative Kwazman Vwa, hosting monthly interviews with Caribbean authors and scholars, and serves as assistant editor for Imaginaries (an H-France affiliated publication). She previously managed the bilingual catalogue raisonné of La Caricature (1830-1835) and has contributed to Public Books, Small Axe, and the CLR James Journal.
