معرفی
Dr. Corey Wells Arnold is a Professor in the Department of Radiological Sciences and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) David Geffen School of Medicine. He also holds joint appointments in the Departments of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Bioengineering. As Vice Chair of Research in Radiological Sciences, Dr. Arnold leads significant initiatives in medical artificial intelligence and informatics, bridging multiple disciplines to advance healthcare through technology.
Dr. Arnold earned his PhD in Information Science from UCLA and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received a BS in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. His educational background uniquely positions him at the intersection of medicine, engineering, and computer science, enabling his innovative work in medical AI applications.
Dr. Arnold's research focuses on applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. His work spans medical imaging analysis, remote patient monitoring, and clinical decision support systems. He has made significant contributions to AI applications in radiology, particularly in stroke diagnosis, prostate cancer detection, and thyroid nodule analysis. His laboratory develops deep learning models for medical image enhancement, segmentation, and diagnostic support.
Analysis of Dr. Arnold's recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on multimodal AI approaches that combine different data sources (imaging, clinical, molecular) to improve diagnostic accuracy. His work increasingly focuses on practical clinical implementation of AI tools, with attention to real-world challenges like data privacy through federated learning approaches. There's also a growing interest in patient-centered applications, particularly in heart failure management and remote monitoring.
Dr. Arnold has secured multiple NIH grants as Principal Investigator:
- R01HL141773: mHealth for Heart Failure: Predictive Models of Readmission Risk and Self-care Using Consumer Activity Trackers
- R21CA220352: Predicting the Presence of Clinically Significant Prostate Cancer using Multiparametric MRI and MR-US Fusion Biopsy
- R01NS100806: A Machine Learning Approach to Classifying Time Since Stroke using Medical Imaging
Dr. Arnold leads the Biomedical Artificial Intelligence Research Lab at UCLA, which brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds including computer science, medicine, and engineering. His team has pioneered approaches in federated learning for medical AI, enabling multi-center collaboration while protecting patient privacy. The lab's work has resulted in numerous clinical applications currently being translated to real-world healthcare settings.
