Corey Oses

Corey Oses is an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Whiting School of Engineering, Johns Hopkins University. He leads the Entropy for Energy (S4E) laboratory, focusing on discovering materials for clean and renewable energy through computational approaches, including high-throughput calculations and machine learning. His work emphasizes leveraging disorder in materials to innovate hydrogen production, waste-heat conversion, and energy storage technologies.

Education:

• Bachelor's in Applied and Engineering Physics, Cornell University (2013)
• PhD in Materials Science, Duke University (2018)

Research Interests: Oses’ research integrates computational and experimental methods to design novel materials. Key areas include high-entropy alloys/carbides, thermoelectrics, and machine learning-driven materials discovery. His lab develops the aflow++ software framework, supporting large-scale materials databases and accelerating the design of magnets, superalloys, and phase-change memory materials. The work aligns with the Materials Genome Initiative (MGI) and has been highlighted in the 2021 White House MGI Strategic Plan.
