Coral del Río Otero

Coral del Río Otero is a full-time Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Vigo, affiliated with the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences. She holds a PhD in Economics from the Carlos III University of Madrid (1996) and specializes in economic inequalities, particularly gender-based disparities in the labor market.

• Education: Economics (BSc) from University of Santiago de Compostela (1989), PhD in Economics from Carlos III University of Madrid (1996).

Research Focus: She examines poverty distribution, wealth dynamics, and gender inequality, with a strong emphasis on feminist economics and taxation policies. Her work extends to comparative economic analyses across countries and collaborations with other disciplines like sociology.

Leadership & Recognition: She directs the Equality Unit at the University of Vigo and is a member of the ECOBAS Interuniversity Research Center and EQUALITAS Network. She received the Ernestina Otero Equality Award (2016) and the Diversa e Igual Award (2023) for her contributions to gender equality and social justice.
