Constanza Vielma is a researcher at ISGlobal, affiliated with the EARLY-ADAPT (Signs of Early Adaptation to Climate Change) project since 2021, under the leadership of Dr. Joan Ballester. She holds a Master's degree in Social Intervention Psychology from the University of Granada and a degree in Sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Her research focuses on the intersection of climate change, health inequalities, occupational health, and elderly health, with a particular emphasis on leveraging eHealth technologies for adaptation in vulnerable populations.
Her academic work spans educational disparities during the pandemic, thermal stress impacts on labor, and climate-driven health outcomes. In 2022, she received a prestigious Severo Ochoa FPI grant to pursue her doctoral thesis, titled "Promoting early adaptation to climate change in vulnerable populations through the use of technological devices (eHealth)", supervised by Dr. Guillaume Chevance and Dr. Joan Ballester. She is currently conducting fieldwork for her thesis.
Constanza's publications reveal expertise in climate adaptation, social determinants of health, and educational equity. Her recent work examines ambient heat effects on sleep, temperature-related occupational injuries, and longitudinal impacts of aging on heat mortality in Spain.
